Ingredients

  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream preferably slightly softened
  • 1 cup crushed ice or ice cubes blended
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg freshly grated if possible

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Add the slightly softened vanilla ice cream to the blender.
  2. Pour in the crushed ice, ensuring it’s evenly distributed in the blender.
  3. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon and nutmeg over the ingredients in the blender.
  4. Secure the lid on the blender and blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and frosty, about 30-40 seconds. You should hear a consistent whir and see a creamy, icy texture forming.
  5. Stop the blender and check the consistency; it should be thick, smooth, and icy with visible specks of spice. If too thick, add a splash of milk and blend briefly again.
  6. Pour the slushie into chilled glasses, allowing the icy mixture to mound slightly above the rim for a generous presentation.
  7. Garnish with a light dusting of cinnamon or a small cinnamon stick if desired for presentation.

Notes

For a richer flavor, try swapping vanilla ice cream with cinnamon or spiced ice cream. Adjust the amount of spices to your taste preference for a milder or more pronounced aroma.
