Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice about 2-3 limes
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur such as Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 1 cup tequila preferably silver or blanco
  • 2 tbsp simple syrup optional, to taste

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons
  • Lime Juicer

Method

  1. Place the ice cubes in your blender and pulse briefly to crush them into smaller pieces, creating a coarse texture.
  2. Add the freshly squeezed lime juice, orange liqueur, tequila, and simple syrup (if using) into the blender with the ice.
  3. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth, with a slushy, slightly frosty appearance and well-incorporated ingredients. This usually takes about 30-40 seconds.
  4. Stop the blender and check the consistency. If it’s too thick, add a splash of lime juice or water and blend briefly to loosen. If it’s too thin, add a few more ice cubes and blend again.
  5. Pour the vibrant green slushie into chilled glasses, allowing the icy mixture to settle into a thick, luscious layer.
  6. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge or a salted rim for added flavor and visual appeal.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, replace the tequila and liqueur with additional lime juice and a splash of orange juice.
